Week 5 Tutorial:

 

Intro

My, we are progressing!. Betty Edwards' preamble in Chapter 8, “Perceiving relationships” covers important information about the perspective system of drawing. So please read pages 136-145 in preparation for this week’s exercises.

Exercise 5.1: Experiment with informal, one point and two-point perspective drawings.

For full instructions refer to the prescribed text (Edwards, 2012) pages 145-154.

Objectives

Practice establishing a horizon line and vanishing point. Sight proportions and angles using your pencil as a sighting device. Learn to sight angles with respct to vertical and horizontal axis. Produce a basic one point perspective drawing and two-point perspective drawing.

Save your drawings for your Assessment 1 portfolio. Submit your best attempt for Exercise 5.1.

Objectives

Choose a site that will make an interesting composition as a perspective drawing. Use the techniques learned so far to produce an artist’s impression of the site.
