English graphic artist Aubrey Beardsley, working in the late 1800s was a contibutor to the establishment of a style characterised by depiction using flourishing and sinuous lines as can be seen here in the hair, the drapery and the foliage. It is a 'mannered' style.

The "art nouveau" style as it came to be known, was by no means restricted to graphics and had particular manifestations in architecture, interior designs, jewellery and fashion of the time and has sustained a lasting influence.
